2 oz Rougaroux® Full Moon Dark Rum
¾ oz Cointreau
¾ oz freshly squeezed Orange Juice
½ oz Dolin Blanc Vermouth
¼ oz freshly squeezed Lime Juice

Shake all ingredients thoroughly with ice. Fine strain into a chilled cocktail glass. Garnish with a lime half wheel.

His Inspiration: “I wanted to create a cocktail using a locally produced spirit, the Rougaroux® Full Moon Dark Rum, produced by the Donner-Peltier Distillery in Thibodaux, LA. It works because the flavor of the rum is complemented by the Cointreau and the orange juice, and the tartness of the lime juice is balanced by the sweetness of the vermouth.”

Tips and Tricks: “As noted above, I wanted to use a local product. I had recently used the same distillery's Oryza® vodka, made from Louisiana rice, in another cocktail that was a finalist in a local contest sponsored by a casino in Baton Rouge. All three of the distillery's products (Oryza® Vodka, Rougaroux® Full Moon Dark Rum, and Rougaroux® Sugarshine White Rum) were awarded gold medals at a recent international spirits competition.”
